Snob: Art as furniture, furniture as art
Sunday, February 27th, 2011I discovered this boutique back in May 2010 at the Montréal SIDIM. I fell in love with their organic approach to decor. I re-discovered them in January at the IDS in Toronto, and what was a teenage crush turned into a full blown passion!
Denise Zidel of Snob describes her vision as such: “ One of life’s simplest pleasures is being surrounded by things that have been lovingly crafted by hand. We need to feel connected to the planet, so we gravitate towards natural forms and textures so we can sense this connection.
Our finds are innovative concepts of design that define scale and proportion to create a meaningful statement reflecting individuality that is not defined by the depths of one’s pocket.
Beautiful people of Southern Africa have expressed their abundance of energy and talent to produce exquisite products of modern design and art form. I have met wonderful people along the way who have offered me a renewed approach to life, and I wish to share that with you through our pieces. Each worker, craftsman and designer has a story to tell with every piece. When you sit in their chair, admire their weaving, beading or handwork on the surface of each and every piece, you will feel the unique blend of colour and culture that I experience in my work every day.”
I couldn’t agree more!
