Now if I ever wanted to become a full fledge artist (not that I possess that kind of talent anyway, but hey it’s ok to dream), I would love to live and work in a home like this one.The light makes the home’s features come alive in the most subtle ways.  Antique crystal chandeliers and ornate mouldings adorn the otherwise sparse and ecclectic furnishings. Mid century classics, antiques and contemporary pieces mix well and give all the room necessay for the paintings to make a statement in every room. I also love the mix of the massive rose wood table with the Chippendale style bamboo chairs, reminescent of a chic hotel wedding.

Can painting talent be harvested you think, when the promise of living in such a house is the motivating agent? Hummm, let’s find out. Paintbrushes, where are you paint brushes?

A Neon Christmas

Friday, December 14th, 2012

I am all over how modern and fresh this festive decor is! And it did not take more than a few rolls of neon non-adhesive tape and ribbon, neon gouache for the wreath, newspaper for wrapping, and some great ideas.

Who’s with me on my neon craze? I guess I did not binge enough the first time around in the ’80′s. :o)

How frustrating will this gift be to open… but how cute is it to decorate under the tree!

A Black & White Christmas

Wednesday, December 5th, 2012

A monochromatic colour palette for Christmas? Yes! And it is anything but bland and boring.

This Swedish home, has embraced the holidays in black and white… with a few, well appointed, accents of red. I love how subdued and yet festive it is. A great way to decorate for those that are “minimalist” when it comes to Holiday Cheer. *wink*

Home Scandi Home

Monday, November 26th, 2012

There is something terribly vintage, laid back and pulled together about this Swedish home. Maybe it is the triptych of George Nelson Ball pendant lights over the table, or the mismatched collection of chairs surrounding it but the effect is lovely.  The juxtaposition of vintage and new, the richness of the materials (read teak galore) and the warm prints used throughout are what appealed to most about this home.

Notice also another one of my personal cardinal rules in terms of the rooms being punctuated by black accents as if to give certain objects or architectural features more presence and hence help define the spaces even better.

Is this home too “pale” for you or does it strike just the right balance?
