5 Spring Trends to love
Thursday, April 5th, 2012Spring to me is like falling in love all over again.
I love the new, bright outfits, the uncomfortable (but oh-so sexy) heels, the butterflies in the pit of my stomach — not to mention the mad dash to clean up my place. Naturally, my lengthy spring to-do list includes a major spring cleaning — and subsequent spring decorating.
After long months of all things grey, beige, and black, I love seeing so much colouragain. But with so many choices (and a limited budget), I’ve had to be picky with what seasonal updates to make this season. Here’s what I’m lusting after:
Neon Colour: This year I am all about neon. In small doses, on accent pillows and artwork, in the mudroom or the nursery, bold streaks of fluorescent yellow, orange and pink are dashing.
Aztec Prints: Reinvented in more graphic patterns and bright color combinations, Aztec prints are this spring’s answer to last year’s Ikat.
Mixed-Pattern Bedding: The ever so popular Ikat gets more of a bohemian feel mixed in with paisley or more contemporary with a chevron pattern. Whatever your style may be, dare to mix and mingle, the result will be fresh and surprising.
Fresh Blooms: This is my weekly spring indulgence. Take a vintage tea box, water pitcher or even mismatched china cups, and put fresh blooms in them with a little fresh water. Play with scale and mix bold colours together. My favourite? A combo of ranunculus and peony. Divine.

May 10th 2012: I first published this blog post for Sweetspot’s Design Groupie, but as the website has been closed last week, I wanted to bring back this content for you to enjoy. V.
