A great bistro table, vintage chairs upholstered in cowhide (not the fake stuff please!) complete with a fabulous banquette with a high wingback makes for a delicious breakfast nook.

There are moments in life, at least in mine, when I just feel like getting away. Not looking back, letting go of everything and leaving with barely a bag full of clothes and my family. The ties (not to call them chains) I have made for myself both profesionnally and in my personnal life are sometimes a lot to manage. A business in growth mode, a TV gig, a mortgage, a duplex with ongoing – or shall I say never ending- renovations… from time to time scare me away and make me wish for a simpler life. A life made of a lake front humble home with bare walls and comfortable beds, great views and the giggles and lovely squeals of my children finding bugs and frogs.

Don’t get me wrong, I am proud of all I have accomplished and continue to strive for everyday while I plow my way through the challenges of being a youg business woman in a niche industry. But if you send me an email today – and if I do not reply until next week – please have a smile rise to the corner of your mouth and rejoice in the fact that maybe… just maybe, I have been able even if for a fleeting moment, to get away.

Now if I ever wanted to become a full fledge artist (not that I possess that kind of talent anyway, but hey it’s ok to dream), I would love to live and work in a home like this one.The light makes the home’s features come alive in the most subtle ways.  Antique crystal chandeliers and ornate mouldings adorn the otherwise sparse and ecclectic furnishings. Mid century classics, antiques and contemporary pieces mix well and give all the room necessay for the paintings to make a statement in every room. I also love the mix of the massive rose wood table with the Chippendale style bamboo chairs, reminescent of a chic hotel wedding.

Can painting talent be harvested you think, when the promise of living in such a house is the motivating agent? Hummm, let’s find out. Paintbrushes, where are you paint brushes?

Le blanc (et toutes les teintes qui en sont dérivées) peut-il être une bonne base pour créer un décor riche en couleurs digne d’un film en Technicolor? Tout à fait!

Encore mieux, il aide à mettre en valeur les éléments de décor colorés et à faire ressortir chacune des couleurs avec brio. Ajoutez à cela quelques surfaces transparentes de lucite ou de verre, pour un effet bijou mais aussi pour donner une impression de grandeur à la pièce et vous obtenez une maison des plus vitaminées et harmonieuse.
